Legal & Certified Translation

Certified translations accepted by courts, notaries, and public bodies in Italy and internationally.

Legal translation is unforgiving. A mistranslation in a contract affects its enforceability. An error in a certified document causes rejection by a public body. The cost of getting it wrong, whether in money, time, or missed opportunity, significantly exceeds the cost of commissioning a proper certified translation in the first place.

Our legal translators are qualified lawyers or legal linguists with specialist expertise in the relevant jurisdiction. We handle contracts, court judgements, company articles, real estate deeds, powers of attorney, inheritance documents, notarial acts, arbitration decisions, and regulatory submissions. Each document type has specific conventions and terminology requirements that only a specialist recognises.

Certified translations include a certification statement signed by the translator confirming the accuracy of the translation. This format is accepted by Italian courts, notaries, public registries, chambers of commerce, and most international public institutions.

For use before Italian tribunals and public administrations, we can provide sworn translations by translators registered with the Italian court (CTU). This is a different and higher legal standard than certification alone, and is required in specific procedural contexts. We clarify the appropriate format before beginning work.

All legal translation documents are treated as confidential. Translators sign NDAs for every project. Documents are not retained after delivery unless specifically agreed in writing.

Common questions

A certified translation includes a signed certification from the translator. A sworn translation is performed by a translator officially registered with an Italian tribunal (CTU) and includes an oath. Sworn translations are required for specific Italian legal proceedings. We advise on which is needed for your situation.
We can produce translations that are formatted and certified for apostille. The apostille stamp itself is issued by the relevant Italian authority (prefettura or procura); we can advise on the process.
